Bedford, NH — LASER COMPONENTS is now offering Holo/OR’s DeepCleave module, a com- pletely optical solution for cutting transparent materials, such as flat panels for mobile phones. A system of lenses with a diffractive optical element is used to focus a single-mode laser beam and cre- ate a stretched focus line of 0.08 in. (2 mm) in the z-axis. Intensity is distributed uniformly over the 0.07 mil (1.8 µm) diameter area. Embedded in a tube, the DeepCleave system

corresponds to a lens with a numerical aperture of 0.35 and can be used immediately. Additional lens- es or expensive optics are not required. Together with a DOE from Holo/OR, the DeepCleave module also includes the sophisticated optical system required to generate the long focal line with constant power density. To
“Zero” Height Threaded PCB Inserts from Keystone
New Hyde Park, NY — Keystone Electronics has introduced a new series of ultra-low-profile, surface- mountable threaded inserts specifi- cally designed and packaged for use on PCBs in the same manner as other SMT components as a simplified method of adding threads to PCBs. Manufactured from steel with a
tin plate, these inserts offer an easy method of adding threads to a PCB, while utilizing the same equipment as with other SMT components. This reduces handling time or damage that may occur when using tradition- al threading methods for a PCB. These new threaded SMT
inserts are available in 2-56, 4-40 and 6-32 threads with a low profile height above the board of only 0.012 in. (0.3 mm). Supplied on tape and

achieve this, an input beam with a precisely defined size and a small M2 is required. In mass production of glass for cellphones,
displays, solar cells, and other high-end applica- tions, long, precise cuts have to be made within a very short time. Cut rates of over 19.7 in./s (500 mm/s) are not uncommon, with cut quality having a decisive influence on the flexibility and durabili- ty of the resulting components. Lasers with a uni- form line on the z-axis can penetrate deep into the
material. Contact: Laser Components USA, Inc., 115

reel with Kapton tape on top surface for easy pickup, they are suitable for use with most vacuum and mechani- cal pick-and-place assembly systems. Availability is from stock through Keystone’s global distribution net- work, as well as online. A major manufacturer of inter-
connect components and electronic hardware, Keystone’s capabilities include stamping, machining and assembly services. Application engi- neering assistance for product modifi- cations and special designs is also available.
