Cleveland, OH — As with any clean- ing process, the most important fea- ture is the chemistry. Smart Sonic’s 440-R SMT detergent is activated utilizing one of the Smart Sonic ul- trasonic stencil cleaners. All Smart Sonic cleaners use side mounted “sweep frequency” ultrasonic trans- ducers to provide cleaning efficien- cy by directing the nondestructive ultrasonic energy toward the sur- face to be cleaned. Ultrasonics can penetrate
fine-pitch and ultra-fine-pitch areas that spray systems cannot reach. Each Smart Sonic cleaner has been engineered and ultrasonically pow- ered to meet the task of removing even dry RMA solder paste and post solder flux buildup safely and com- pletely in just seconds. The Model 6000 stencil cleaner is
a fully automatic ultrasonic system that utilizes 440-R SMT detergent so-
lution. The wash time is completed in approximately one minute and rinsing in less than 10 seconds. An optional handheld dryer is also available.

Laser Wire Solutions Expands Wire Stripper Portfolio
www.buerklin.com YEARS
Pontypridd, UK — Laser Wire Solu- tions has launched a range of new wire stripping systems, including the Viking-4, Mercury-4E and the Odyssey-4. The Viking-4 is an inline, four-beam laser system that facili- tates the removal of enamel from round wires up to 0.1 in. (3 mm) outer diameter and from rectangular magnet wires up to 0.8 x 0.8 in. (20 x 20 mm), with strip lengths up to 4 in. (100 mm) in size. Traditional means of removing
the enamel insulation from such poly- imide coated wires or bars include in- duction heating and brushing, abra- sive wheels and mechanical blades. These methods require significant maintenance, with regular replace- ment of broken parts or blunt blades. The underlying conductors are also more likely to be damaged by nicks and scrapes from the use of such tools. The Mercury-4E is an extended
version of the popular Mercury-4 laser wire stripper for polymer insu- lation removal. While the Mercury-
4E remains a relatively compact benchtop unit, it provides a more generous processing area of 4 x 4 in. (100 x 100 mm) to allow a greater quantity of cables to be processed at any one time. A dual x/y axis motion enables the system to handle all strip types — cross-cut, windows and area ablation, as well as any shapes. The high-precision Odyssey-4
system has been especially designed for the gentle ablation of polyimide wire down to 58 AWG. With UV laser technology, the Odyssey-4 vaporizes any insulation cleanly and precisely, while harmlessly reflecting from the shield or conductor. No residue it left, so it is possible to connect to the wire
without further chemical treatment. Contact: Laser Wire Solutions,
