Sometimes a customer may be unhappy with the goods and return them to the seller. It can also happen that a customer may be accidentally overcharged for goods. If this occurs, the seller may issue a credit note. A credit note is a document sent by the seller to the customer that shows a reduction in the amount owed.

Outdoor World returned one Gents’ Bicycle because the frame was damaged. Traction Bikes therefore reduces the amount owed by issuing a credit note to the value of the damaged item.
