Lucy thought that the results were positive. 1. A lot of parents in the survey are definitely interested in the service.
2. Most were prepared to pay between €15 and €20 per hour. This result really pleased Lucy.
3. Lucy was surprised by what were the most popular activities with parents. Telling funny stories to children came out as the most popular. ‘I can definitely do that,’ thought Lucy.
Overall, Lucy was pleased with the results of the survey. ‘It shows that a lot of parents are interested in paying for such a service,’ she thought. Lucy decided to start developing her idea by practising her face painting and giant bubble making skills with her friends. She used the Internet for desk research and, with a bit of practice, became quite good. She also began gathering silly jokes and stories that she could use, as well as some fun clothes and make-up that she could wear to make children laugh. Lucy decided to do some test marketing. She volunteered to do her first full performance at her little cousin’s seventh birthday party for free. That went well, was a lot of fun and helped to build Lucy’s confidence as an entrepreneur.
Launch decision
Lucy decided that her idea was a good one and that the business would work. She decided to call her business Lucy’s Pop-Up Parties and also decided to do another free birthday party to get a bit more experience. However, Lucy also understood the importance of promoting her business to potential customers. This time she brought along advertising leaflets she had made at home to give to all the parents attending, letting them know that her party services were now available for hire.
