Help for entrepreneurs The State has two services to help enterprises to set up and grow: Local Enterprise Offi ces (LEOs) provide a ‘fi rst stop shop’ service for anyone seeking information and practical support on starting or growing a business. LEO offi ces are located in every local authority area. This is a State-run service and concentrates on helping small enterprises (with fewer than 10 employees). For larger businesses or entrepreneurs with high-growth potential ideas, LEOs will refer you to Enterprise Ireland for support.

Enterprise Ireland is the State agency responsible for supporting the development and growth of Irish fi rms. It concentrates on Irish-owned fi rms that employ, or are capable of employing, more than 10 employees and which produce goods or services that can be exported.
Business Careers Enterprise Development Offi cers provide advice and support to entrepreneurs looking to set up or expand a business. They are employed by State agencies such as Local Enterprise Offi ces and Enterprise Ireland.
