Wendy Lane has been on the board of directors at Willis Group since April 2004. She has been chairman of Lane Holdings, an investment firm, since 1992. Prior to forming Lane Holdings, Lane was a principal and managing director of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette Securities Corporation, an investment banking firm, serving in these and other positions from 1981 to 1992. She is also a director of Laboratory Corporation of America and of UPM-Kymmene Corporation. She is a former Trustee of the US Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation.
What has been the highlight of your career so far? My highlight at Willis has been the first year of new leadership under Dominic Casserley. It was characterised by a smooth transition with a focus on growth, under a new CEO with a broad financial perspective, backed by a strong, insurance experienced deputy CEO. I’m very proud of that. Outside of Willis, the highlight has been being able to reinvent
myself a couple of times from being an investment banker, to an investor and then to being a director.
What has been the biggest challenge you have encountered? The repositioning of Willis for growth, enabled by financial and accounting steps and a new compensation scheme design that altogether allow us to invest in the future.
What are your career aspirations now? I’m very much aligned with Casserley to make Willis the best broker with the strongest analytics capabilities to really

differentiate itself from the competition. On a personal level, I continue to seek intellectual growth and want to continue adding value to the companies I work with.
