What has been the highlight of your career so far? I feel extremely fortunate to have had many highlights in my career. The satisfaction of becoming, at the age of 32, the first female founder of a Lloyd’s broking operation in its 325-year history remains my favourite.

What has been the biggest challenge you have

encountered? My biggest career challenge has always been evolving my role. You have to evolve on a daily basis. You cannot sit still. This industry is changing at such a rapid pace. You snooze, you lose. I look at the role I do now compared with that of 10 years ago and how it has changed. That has been both my biggest challenge and my biggest stimulant. I work in an industry that never sits still and, if you do sit still, you will be left behind.

What are your career aspirations now? My aspirations change continually. I am ambitious and very competitive by nature and always have been. However, the one constant is that I want to bring exceptional value to my clients, especially as they continually face new and often unexpected market challenges. I want to be the one they come to. My current role is very much focused on business development

across Guy Carpenter’s international operations. This is a challenging time, and we are facing significant rapid and fundamental change in our industry like never before. And these are changes that I don’t see reversing, or certainly not in the near future. The key to success is anticipating our clients’ needs through

such changes. They are seeing new global risks emerge, whether it is through climate change or the likes of cyber risk. They are entering new geographic markets that require a high level of business intelligence and sophistication, and of course, the need to discover new trading partnerships that can provide valuable trading opportunities. I want to ensure that Guy Carpenter, with its vast resources and

depth of talent, is helping our clients meet those challenges and achieve profitable growth.
