Laboratory Products 29 New Autoclave Controller Launched
All laboratory autoclaves and research sterilisers leaving the Priorclave design and manufacturing centre in the UK are now fi tted with a new, technologically advanced controller. This is a signifi cant up-grade; the new user interface features a hi-res digital display screen and offers a more streamlined approach to programming the sterilising settings.
The new TACTROL® 3 controller presents to the user a crystal clear LCD display and provides a more simplistic approach
to function settings yet still retains the simple to use day to day operation of previous versions with Start, Vent and Door buttons. Overall this gives more precise control and delivers information on cycle process to achieve the ultimate in sterilisation performance.
In addition Tactrol® 3 controller offers full setting security, managed with passcodes and a manual key-switch, making it ideal
for environments where pre-programs need to be kept tamperproof. These would include pharmaceutical, food and beverage, dairy as well as critical research centres.
Once the screen has been accessed by pressing the ‘OK’ button, settings can be easily altered using left and right arrows. Through the quick-view menu lab staff are able to ‘enable’ or ‘disable’ such functions as Load-sense, freesteaming, media warming, delayed start and vacuum settings.
Settings and viewing of functions are simply accessed through a fi ve key pad and displayed on the high resolution LCD display panel, the display is not touchscreen type. This has signifi cant advantages for laboratory sector since settings can be made and checked without having to remove protective gloves.
This latest controller is fi tted as standard on all Priorclave laboratory autoclaves and research sterilisers including benchtop autoclaves, top and front loading machines, powerdoor, pass-through and stackable autoclaves.

New Digital Hot Plate/Stirrers Feature Multistation Design
Laboratory hotplates and stirrers from Wiggens demonstrates the kind of creative design that results from practical laboratory experience coupled with ceramic coated material to produce an almost indestructible surface. The instrument is highly suitable for relatively mild heating, good for small sample amounts or relatively low temperature for large sample volume. The material also has great anti-corrosive ability to acid, base, or organic solvents.
Advanced microprocessor controlling system guarantees the reliability and temperature stability. The bright and clear LED digital display and setting for the working temperature shows stirring speed, working time and safety temperature. A fl ashing high temperature indicator alerts users for harm by touch. Liquid drainage above the control board avoids the solution splashing on the touch board.
If the laboratory hotplates/stirrers are to be used in an aggressive environment, Wiggens recommends the use of the compressed-air connector, which is available as an option. The stand rod holder on the back panel of the device can be used to connect accessories, such as a temperature sensor, conveniently and securely. Three models are available for single position, four positions and six positions.

Asynt announces the DrySyn Multi-M high temperature adapter, a unique product that enables scientists to undertake parallel reactions that require solution temperatures of over 400°C.
A signifi cant number of Asynt customers worldwide have reported great success in using single position DrySyn heating block systems at high temperatures. However, in order to carry out very high temperature reactions in parallel required development of a novel pin locating adapter plate. With high temperature hotplate stirrers being generally much larger than those considered as ‘standard’, the new adapter plate ensures that the DrySyn Multi-M loaded with 3 x 250ml round bottomed fl asks can be accurately and securely positioned on a larger hotplate stirrer.
Manufactured from solid aluminium, the DrySyn Multi-M with high temperature adapter was originally designed for a customer who is now successfully undertaking novel nanoparticle synthesis reactions in parallel that require solution temperatures of up to and over 400°C.
Most standard lab hotplate stirrers have a maximum ‘plate’ temperature of around 300°C and therefore a higher temperature unit is needed if a solution temperature above around 280°C level is required. Asynt recommends the use of a high temperature hotplate stirrer such as the IKA HS7. This unit is capable of 500°C and works perfectly with the new DrySyn Multi-M high temperature adapter allowing parallel experiments to be set-up and used in a secure central position.
