4 Water / Waste water - IFAT 2014 Preview

IFAT 2014

IFAT 2014, the world’s leading international trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, will once again be playing host to the latest innovations and technologies in every aspect of waste management between May 5 and 9 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre, Germany.

Following a record number of exhibitors and exhibition space in 2012, which saw approximately 125,000 visitors come through the doors over 5 days, IFAT 2014 is set to be even bigger than before, covering 230,000 square meters of exhibition space – that’s 15,000 square meters more than in 2012. Despite this expansion, there are still waiting lists for exhibitors in some segments. In terms of exhibitor numbers, too, new heights are being reached: a new record is expected, with around 3,000 companies from 50 countries exhibiting at the fair. A total of 56 joint stands from 13 countries will also be taking part.

Exhibitors and visitors can expect a unique program of supporting events. In 2012 more than 16,000 visitors took part in the approximately 320 lectures and discussions. The forums are platforms for company presentations, panel discussions, country specials, technical discussions and special events.

Dave Oswalt, Vice President, Gorman-Rupp International (USA) states: “This is the fourth time that Gorman-Rupp has participated in IFAT and each time we have expanded our presence with a larger stand. The diversity of attendees who visit this trade fair make it an extremely attractive show for companies with a broad range of markets and products like Gorman-Rupp. We will defi nitely be coming back to Munich in 2014.”

IFAT 2014 will have a large range of exhibits: • Water extraction • Water and sewage treatment • Water distribution and sewers • Coastal protection/fl ood and waterbody control • Refuse disposal and recycling • Generating energy from waste materials • Street cleaning, maintenance and winter road services • Decontamination of old sites/soil treatment • Flue-gas scrubbing and air extraction • Air-pollution abatement • Noise reduction/Sound insulation • Measuring, control and laboratory technology • Services • Science, research, technology transfer

IFAT revolves around state-of-the-art know-how—just one of the reasons it is so popular among visitors. As a result, it offers exhibitors and visitors a number of opportunities to network at the international level. Whether it comes to

comparing specifi c interests, discovering new contacts or establishing promising business partnerships: this is the place to discuss everything with everyone.

In addition to the usual schedule of events and exhibits, The GreenTec Awards 2014, Europe´s biggest environmental and business prize, and Messe München International have entered into a partnership. Launched in 2008, the GreenTec Awards promote both innovative environmental initiatives that make sound business sense and an enthusiasm for technology. The supporters of the GreenTec Awards – from business, science, politics and the media – contribute their innovative thinking, expert knowledge, passion and glamour to the awards and to the prize-giving ceremony. In 2014 the GreenTec Awards will be presented for the fi rst time at IFAT, in the show´s opening gala attended by 1,000 invited guests.

The Munich Trade Fair Centre itself aims to be shining example of green innovation and technology, using natural gas heating systems, solar energy, boasting the world’s largest roof-mounted photovoltaic system, and green open spaces that account for 125,000 m², or 17%, of the trade- fair center, which covers a total area of 73 hectares.

Whilst in Munich, you can also discover the lively cultural centre that will make your stay a real adventure. Munich has a unique combination of things traditional and modern, international fl air and a wonderful surrounding region, and since it is a key European transport hub, it is easy to reach from destinations around the world. The collections in Munich’s museums and galleries are among the most impressive in the world. Guests can visit, study or simply enjoy exhibits in a total of 45 museums and collections covering everything from history, natural science and technology to the entire spectrum of European art and culture.

Environmental Technology Publications will also be exhibiting at IFAT, Hall A5, Stand 201. We look forward to seeing you there!
