Healing Miss Daisie by Angela Ardolino
When Daisie, a 14-year-old black Labrador Retriever, came to Fire Flake Farm on October 1, 2019, I immediately loved her gentle soul. Her black coat is peppered with gray and although she has youthful eyes, she is certainly in her twilight years. Despite the twinkle in her eye, Miss
Daisie was suffering from poor health. She had a large mast cell tumor the size of a golf ball on her back just above her tail and could barely use her back legs. She basically was dragging them behind her. Unable to hear, Daisie relies on her senses of smell and vision, but life with- out a key sense had made her weary. She rarely looked up or made eye contact but always wanted to be near us. When Daisie managed to get up, she
tried her best to keep up with my pack, but often found herself falling behind. The growth on her back was clearly uncomfortable and she was having so much trouble walking and supporting her weight on her back legs. Working from the inside-out To heal Miss Daisie, we started by giv-
ing her 12 grams of EASE full spectrum hemp extract tincture in the morning and 50 grams of HEAL full spectrum hemp extract tincture in the evening. EASE is formulated specifically for joint pain and allergies and also includes Frankincense Essential Oil and Turmeric/Curcumin full spectrum oil – both known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory prop- erties. While HEAL is a higher mg of active Full Spectrum CBD formulated to treat cancer and tumors – combined they provided a strong dose of CBD for Daisie’s dementia and tumors (she has two more smaller papillomata on her chest). We also applied a full spectrum hemp extract CBD salve for dogs, REMEDY, directly to the tumor on her back twice a day – once in the morning and once in the afternoon or evening. By giving Daisie both the tinctures
and salve, her issues were treated from the inside-out. The tinctures, when applied directly to the gums, is absorbed into the bloodstream. It works to reduce overall

medications, research has proven that CBD is effectively and quickly absorbed into the bloodstream when administered both orally and topically. A study conducted by the Department
of Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel concluded that: “CBD was observed to have a large volume of distribution [in dogs studied].” In another study conducted by the
inflammation in her body, which treats not only the joint pain but the tumors. The salve, which is applied directly onto the tumor itself, is able to penetrate all three layers of Daisie’s skin and because there are both CB1 and CB2 receptors in every layer of a dog’s skin, it is extremely effective. CB1 and CB2 receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system, which instructs cells on how to heal. This makes CBD an extremely effective treatment when applied topically to dogs. Additionally, I changed Miss Daisie’s
food to include a high quality raw diet, goats milk, and whole sardines for snacks throughout the day. We assisted her cleanse with a digestion support supplement. How CBD coupled with essen-
tial oils packs a punch CBD oil is incredibly effective, but it
can be better absorbed with MCT oil from coconuts or hemp seed oil and can pack even more of a punch when com- bined with essential oils. For example, peppermint and arnica essential oils can provide healing relief in conjunction with CBD, which lead to faster healing. The science of CBD – is it safe? CBD is a safe, effective treatment for
all mammals both topically and orally. In a study conducted by Colorado State University, 10 mg/kg/day or 20mg/kg/day was orally administered to dogs for six days. CBD was tolerated in the entire study population. Unlike many traditional
Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, dogs were found to have a substantial amount of receptors in their endocannabi- noid system, specifically in the spine and skin, which allows dogs to more effectively use CBD. This all means that full spectrum hemp extract/CBD, is both efficient, effective, and safe for dogs. Studies have shown that CBD can effectively stop and eliminate tumors and cancerous growths and inhibit future growths. Miss Daisie’s results 30 days in With regular application of REME-
DY full spectrum hemp CBD salve as well as oral administration of the tinctures twice daily, Daisie’s tumor shrank signifi- cantly – decreasing in size by a third-- within the first month. During that month, the growth popped, oozed, and detached from the spinal area. It softened, but still feels that there is a small hard area inside, which appears to be scar tissue. In two weeks, I predict that it will be completely gone and healed. Because of the tinctures, Daisie has
also been able to move more quickly. She also has not had any new growths on her skin because of her daily treatment and her raw diet. Even better: she is more relaxed and not in pain. She has started to swim and can get up to a full trot. She looks up and now makes eye contact with us.
