An exhibition focusing exclusively on trading opportunities with Commonwealth countries is one of many new events to feature in Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) bolstered 2020 events calendar. For the first time, the Greater Birmingham
Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce (GBCCC), part of the GBCC, will be hosting its Commonwealth Expo on 13 February at Conference Aston. More than 30 high commissions and business
organisations from a variety of Commonwealth countries will be in attendance. The event will also feature three seminars,
focusing on Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games opportunities and trade in Commonwealth countries. Mandy Haque, director of International
Business Hub at GBCC, said: “I am delighted to be announcing the first GBCCC Expo after clear demand from members to want to learn more about trading with Commonwealth countries. “This will give businesses a valuable opportunity
to learn from exhibitors representing various Commonwealth countries on the benefits of trading in overseas markets as well as networking with other Commonwealth focused members.
“This is the first major event of 2020 in the
international calendar, starting off a very exciting year for the International department.” Alongside the Commonwealth Expo, the Chambers will be hosting a number of other new exhibitions, conferences and networking events in 2020.

The Chamber’s annual productivity and
leadership campaign, Growth Through People (for more about the 2020 Growth Through People campaign turn to page 18) will host its first full-day conference as part of the campaign’s events portfolio. The conference, which takes place on 2 April,
will feature talks, panel discussions and workshops which will explore the topics of responsible leadership, attracting and engaging talent, unlocking potential and employee resilience. The event will be held at the Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, which are also venue sponsors of the Growth Through People conference.
The Chamber will also be adding a third Expo
to its events roster. Being named the Summer Expo, the exhibition will be in a similar format to the Chamber’s popular Spring and Autumn Expos, in which more than 90 exhibitors and 800 delegates attend, and will take place in Solihull. On 24 June, businesses looking to do trade
overseas will be invited to attend the Chamber’s International Conference, previously known as the Transatlantic Conference. The expanded conference will include talks
and panel discussions from a plethora of speakers, discussing opportunities in international markets. Other popular Chamber events, such as
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce annual dinner and awards, will feature in the events listings, alongside more speed and social networking, speaker breakfasts and making the most of your membership events being held across the Chamber’s regional network.
