Determined to make Brexit a breeze

adviser, and Carina Jocher-Wright, translations key account executive, volunteered to help and have now completed their Certification Procedures training, accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce. Dan and Carina both passed the


course with flying colours, achieving high marks on the training’s final exam. Alongside the Chamber’s five-


strong documentation team based at Chamber House, Edgbaston, the pair can now certify multiple export documents for Greater Birmingham products. In addition, Carl Douglas, training


coordinator at the Chambers, will also be undertaking the Certification Procedures training. Dan said: “I decided to take up the training so that I could support

knowledge of the different types of documentation that businesses need to provide in order to export goods abroad and in particular, what they need to prove the origin of their goods. “As well as supporting my


colleagues in the documentations team, the course has also helped me understand more of the practical side of exporting which has helped me in my current job.” Carina said: “When I was asked if


I wanted to take up the training, I felt it would be a great opportunity for me to gain new skills, support the documentation team at the Chamber and be an extra pair of hands leading up to and after Brexit. “I am now fully aware of the


procedures that are required to certify Certificates of Origin and other export documents like EUR1 and ATR.

“I’ve gained a good insight into


the importance of proving the origin of goods, the sheer volume of certificates that have to be processed by our documentation team on a daily basis and how the team work as a whole.” The documentation team process


certificates of origin, EUR1 documents, ATR Documents and ATA Carnets, for businesses across the region.


The Chambers are also an agent


for Arab-British certificates of origin, and have bolstered their documentation arm due to anticipated increased post-Brexit demand for export documentation certification. Dave Harris, documentation manager at the Chambers, said: “I’m really proud of Dan and Carina for passing the course with exceptionally high scores in the
