NEWS FROM ASHMANHAUGH & BARTON WANDERERS CC The cricket season has now drawn to a close and the pitches are being put to bed for the winter. It’s been a very exciting year for the club as it continues to grow in all directions! This year we launched, very informally, a girls squad who trained and competed in 1 soft ball tournament which they won, this will be expanded on next season so please get in touch asap to register interest. The 2nd

XI had a great year and finished as league winners gaining

promotion to division 5 of the Norfolk Alliance. Our 1st

last ball of the very last game to finish in 3rd

XI, who were in a promotion spot for the majority of the season, sadly lost on the place position of division 2, a very good base to

go forward from in 2020 although not the finish they had hoped for. We ended the season with our junior presentation evening, awarding some very talented young people with their respective medals and trophies; the ABWCC junior section has yet again had a very successful season and continues to improve in all areas of cricket. The junior squad is expanding all the time as we welcome new recruits to all age groups. We once again fully embraced the ECB All Stars programme for ages 5-8 years and saw lots of new talent playing matches and training weekly. We are very grateful to the time and effort put in by the volunteers, managers and coaches. Our final weekend saw the club host 2 matches against touring sides, Gumley CC & Shirley CC, they had a great time and very generously donated to the fundraising efforts of our juniors. Due to the influx of senior players and the young players becoming ready for senior cricket we will be launching a 3rd

XI for season 2020 so anyone wishing to join please get in touch!

Winter refurbishments are planned and there are exciting developments ahead for this village club at both our grounds, look out for announcements! We must finish by saying a huge thank you to all the support ABWCC receives, our local business sponsors are too numerous to mention but support the club consistently and we are extremely grateful; the villagers who support the teams at home and away, the parents who help in all manner of ways, not least transporting their children to matches far & wide. At a time when many clubs are struggling to survive we are very aware of how much help and support we as a club are given by local businesses, members and neighbours – we would like to extend a very big Thank you. If you would like any information or are interested in playing or sponsoring the club please contact us via the club website or Twitter/Facebook accounts
