Spotlight on Associates - Dennis Lee - 39 years Lloyd Sowers of Fox 13 in Tampa recently interviewed
Dennis while he was performing at the Florida State Fair. “His show is a combination of music and homespun come- dy.” Dennis says his grandmother says “Dennis, you’re getting
paid for what I used to spank you for.” Dennis was not always a performer, he got his start at
the Fair by picking up trash. He credits Mr. Wilson Sparks with giving him a chance to clown around. Wilson was President of the Florida Federation of Fairs in 1984. Dennis has always been a big supporter of the Federa-
tion. He twice served on the board as Associate Director. He was named Associate of the Year in 2008. He has been a sponsor of the Hospitality Room, among other things. Dennis told Sowers “It’s mom and pop, God and country,
I can't thank Mr. Wilson Sparks, who had a big hand & vision in every step I took to be here today
and everything good about it. We travel from coast to coast.” Dennis’ rendition of our National Anthem shows his love for our country. He has sung the National Anthem at the opening of Ray’s games and has opened the IAFE Convention in Las Vegas. Dennis’ shows are filled with audience interaction. He sings and cracks
jokes and performs physical comedy. Channel 13 was not the only one to interview him this year, Dennis was
a guest on WFLA radio, hosted by Jack Harris. The South Florida Fair inducted him into their Hall of Fame having per-
formed there since 1985. In 2008 at Innisbrook Dennis called the late Jean Grant to the stage
and sang to her. They both knew it would be her last convention. He does a benefit every year for New Horizons Group Homes in Brandon. He has a special
place in his heart for the residents. Rachel and Matthew are the loves of his life. Being Dad beats anything else. Thank you for all you do Dennis—catch you on the “Love Big” tour.
