Fairly Important Matters ………. Rep Dan. Newhouse (R-Wash.)
is voting “yea” to a new spouse, tying the knot in a ceremony at the Capitol. The 63-year-old lawmaker mar-
ried his now-wife, Joan Galvin, following House votes on Friday. The ceremony between the
Washington Republican and Gal- vin, a government relations senior adviser at a law firm, was officiated by House Chaplain Patrick Conroy. ITK hears that Newhouse’s GOP colleague, Rep. Pete
Sessions (Texas), served as his best man for the congres- sional nuptials. Newhouse’s wife of more than three decades, Carol, died
last year after a cancer battle. “I am overjoyed and truly blessed to be starting this new
chapter of my life with Joan,” Newhouse said in a state- ment. It's been a momentous month for Newhouse — he won
his reelection bid for a third House term on Nov. 6. “We are so grateful for the support and love of our
friends, family, and everyone celebrating with us in spirit,” Newhouse said of his wedding.
