Eduardo (Eddie) Cora is president of Miami Dade County Fair & Exposition, Inc., commonly referred to as The Youth Fair. The Youth Fair, an annual event in Miami-Dade Coun-


ty since 1952, is one of the 40 largest fairs in North America and the largest charitable event in Miami-Dade County. In addition, the nonprofit organization hosts approximately 70 other events each year at the Fair- grounds, which is the second-largest convention facility in Miami-Dade County.


Belen Jesuit High School and St. Thomas University, Eddie began his professional career working in collegiate and professional sports in the county. He later transitioned into the agricultural and green industry for almost 20 years and is currently an ISA Certified Arborist. He has served many community organizations, including 18 years as a board member of The Youth Fair, three years


as its Chairman. Eddie and his wife, who is a public school teacher, have been married for 28 years and raised two chil- dren in Miami=Dade County. His focus for The Youth Fair is to re-engage with the community on a grassroots level to build a common purpose and


community with the annual guests. The mission of The Youth Fair is to promote agriculture, youth education and youth achievement, and he believes this can only be accomplished with a common focus with support from the community.


Firefighters' Fair Celebrates Vero's Centennial March 8-17 This year's Firefighters' Indian River County Fair, which runs March 8th through 17th, celebrates Vero


Beach's Centennial! To commemorate the Centennial, fair-goers can view the 100-year historical time- line of Vero Beach inside the Press Journal/TC Palm Exhibition Hall. In addition to popular local entertainment that includes such favorites as Aerial Antics, Dixie Wran-


glers and Sebastian Hip Hop, this year's fair will welcome country music super star Clay Walker on Sun- day, March 10 at 7 p.m. Opening for Walker will be the Tom Jackson Band. General admission ticket price is $10, with VIP seating available for $40, $100 and $250. Tickets are available now online at www.firefightersfair.org. One of two new shows is “Farmily Feud,” where kids compete against one another to test their


“Chases Racing Pigs,” another new act this year. Popular attractions and shows returning include the Firefighter Training Show for kids; Circus of Illusion starring Steven Marcus;


Jon Simon Comedy Hypnosis Show; and the Demolition Derby on March 9th. The Indian River County Youth 4-H Clubs and their projects will be on display in the B94.7 Agriculture Pavilion, with the swine,

This year is no different, with outreaches scheduled for United Against Poverty in Indian River County, The Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross. Proceeds from the fair benefit the Indian River County Burn Fund to provide financial assistance to burn victims, as well as going


toward scholarships, fairground improvements and other charitable causes. A check presentation to a burn victim is planned. Instead of ride tickets, the fair features all-you-can-ride wristbands, with prices varying by day. Gate admission is $8 for adults, $5


for seniors 55+ and children 6 to 12, as well as for military and first responders. Children 5 and under are free. Parking is always free. The fairgrounds are located at 7955 58th Avenue, Vero Beach. The fair opens Monday - Friday at 5 pm and Saturday and Sun- day at 1 pm. Closing times vary by day. Advanced discounted Power Passes, good for gate admission and ride wristband, are on sale now through opening.
