Florida Fair News - Flagler County Fair & Youth Show

The Flagler County Fair & Youth Show held their 2nd annual Blue Jeans and Bling Fundraiser recently. All proceeds from this event are awarded as scholar- ships to the graduating 4H and FFA Seniors that participate in our fair. We raised $4,000 and with last year’s fundraiser we will award more than $12,000 in scholarships this year. We are gearing up for our upcoming Fair April 3-7. We

have partnered with Flagler Broadcasting and are hosting their 10th anniversary bash during our fair. We have brought back the petting zoo and pony rides this year and are excited to have Belle City Amusements return as our car- nival ride and game provider. We have grown tremendously in the last 3 years and have tripled our attendance with the partnership of Flagler Broadcasting. Our livestock sale was a great success

last year and this year we have 17 regis- tered steers. This is tremendous as the numbers had slowly dwindled in the last several years. We also have 50 pigs, 8 goats, 17 sets of pullets and 8 rabbits. Our fair provides our swine to the exhibi- tors for a fee and they are purchased from a breeder in Florida. We are looking

forward to providing some excellent meat sources to the public this year. This year will mark our 23rd year under the current Fair

Corporation. We are a nonprofit fair that is not funded by our county. We are funded solely by our gate fees, carnival rides and sponsors. Our fair board members are all volun- teers and work long hard hours to make our fair a suc- cess. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our small-

town agricultural fair. We strive to educate our youth in Florida Agriculture and promote a positive family atmos- phere at our fair. 4H and FFA kids volunteered to serve food and clean up

at the fair.
