by SEAMUS WHELEHAN

A quintessential part

of East Cork’s life for over 300 years, Cobh People’s Regatta is one of the old- est sailing regattas in the world. Next weekend the har-

three day event then just sailing and rowing, there will be plenty to keep peo- ple entertained from “live performances on stage on all three nights, with kid’s entertainment

both Sat-

urday and Sunday after- noon.” This will be followed by

a monster fireworks dis- play Sunday night, mark- ing the end to the 2018 festivities. Regatta fun will start

on Friday 17 August with a performance

by the

Sinead Shepard School of Dance on Friday 17 August, followed by Eith-

ne Burke’s Mini-Oscars dance troupe. At 8:45pm the

pub-

lic will also get to see the 2018 Regatta Queen contestants. The cassettes band will also feature on the night. On Saturday 18 August there will be twelve full

hours of nonstop enter- tainment from 11:00am to 11:00pm. Sunday 19 August see the cruise

the arrival of
