Midleton Darts Association Fundraiser Raises Almost €3,400 in Aid of Marymount Hospice

On Sunday, 5 August in Molly’s Bar, Midleton some brave members and friends of the East Cork Mixed League Darts Association came together and held a sponsored head / beard shave in aid of Marymount Hospice. The event was held in loving memory of former mem- ber, Marion Courtney, who sadly passed away in Marymount in March of this year. It was also in support of another mem- ber, Kate O’Connor who is currently in their care. Hoping the recent good spell of weather continues, the 14 volunteers lined up to sit in front of Melanie and Joe, two hairdressers who kindly gave their time to trim, snip, cut and shave all the heads put be- fore them! A great day and
night of shaving and darts was had by all. Speak- ing with The East Cork Journal, Elizabeth Ahern Shanahan (organiser and volunteer) said, ““We had a great crowd and it was all terrific craic. On behalf of Darts Association, I would like to thank all the staff at Molly’s who looked after everything for us and helped the entire event go so smoothly – pardon the pun! Also a huge thank you to everyone who showed up to support us and the cause. We had a bucket collection at the weekend, funds from which will be sent to, and counted at the hospice. On the darts night itself, we raised almost €3,400 with some donations still coming in. We’re absolutely thrilled with the result – and hope the warm weather continues!” Well done to all involved in supporting such a great cause.
