About the ship: Kaskelot was built in Denmark in 1948 by the renowned J ring Andersen shipyard. she was commis- sioned by the Royal Greenland Trading Company and used to supply remote areas of Green- land until the 1960’s. After this she became a fisheries support vessel in the Faroe Islands. The Danish word ‘Kaskelot’

With her home base as Charlestown Harbour in Cornwall, Kaskel- ot sailed all over the world training young seafarers, along with starring in many Holly- wood movies. Kaskelot was sold again in 2013 and given a new lease of life through an extensive refit. All her masts and spars were unshipped and refurbished or replaced, she was stripped down to a bare hull with many planks, frames and stanchions being repaired or replaced.
