Grant Thornton The Birmingham office of business and finance adviser Grant Thornton has appointed professional sector marketing specialist Nicola Tipping as business development manager. Ms Tipping joins Grant Thornton with 20 years’ experience in professional advisory services marketing, including ten years at Baker Tilley, where she worked on winning new business through key client account management, devising new business strategies and identifying emerging market and service opportunities. She has also started and grown two businesses in her home county of Northamptonshire. David Hillan, practice leader at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said:

Clarke Willmott LLP Several promotions, appointments and new roles have been announced for senior staff at the Birmingham office of law firm Clarke Willmott LLP. Jonathan Morton, partner in the commercial property team at the firm, is
the new chairman of the business after being elected by his fellow partners. Rayner Grice, partner in the family team has stepped up to fill Jonathan’s
role as head of the Birmingham office. Rayner has more than 20 years’ experience in family law and is an independently recognised specialist in high value and complex divorce and separation cases. Meanwhile, Andrew Beedham, a consultant in the corporate and
commercial team, is to become the new president of the Birmingham Law Society, and Philip Edwards has been named Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner for the firm nationally.

Tuffin Ferraby Taylor (TFT) Independent property and construction consultancy TFT has appointed David Medcraft as technical partner, leading project consultancy in the Midlands. Medcraft comes to TFT having
been at the reins of some of the UK’s highest profile and complex projects and programmes. He was previously director of
project management in the CBRE building consultancy team. Alan Pemberton, managing

John Venn & Sons A lawyer at Birmingham-based John Venn & Sons has achieved scrivener notary status. Katie Lyons joined Venn a year
ago from law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where she had spent more than a decade as a solicitor. She has now passed the
necessary exams to become a scrivener notary, who are lawyers who have the right to prepare and attest deeds and other documents for use throughout the world. Scrivener notaries are also
linguists who have been examined in two languages other than English, and in Katie’s case these are French and Spanish.
