Business News Weekender rides into town
Birmingham’s biggest arts festival, Birmingham Weekender, returns from 22 to 24 September with dance, drums, music and a mechanical elephant transforming the city centre. Over 150,000 people are
expected to attend the event, which is organised by Culture Central, the cultural development agency for Birmingham. The three- day festival features performances and events from the city’s major arts organisations, independent artists and especially invited international artists. From the central hub in Victoria
Square, dance, music, visual arts and opera will spill out across the city from Eastside Green to mac birmingham, with the bulk of activity in the city’s retail heart. Working with Moseley Folk
Festival, Victoria Square will transform into a three-day dance experience, Square Dance. Hour- by-hour experience disco to folk and bhangra to Northern Soul. Striking kathakali dancers will
visit especially for Weekender from Kerala (India). With headline DJs, Square Dance offers a chance for everyone to get up and strut their stuff.
Birmingham Hippodrome will
present Clash of the Drums, a spectacular outdoor evening of drumming and pyrotechnics. The Rangeeli – Colours of Birmingham parade will feature Harminder, a magnificent Indian elephant made of reclaimed bicycle parts and other recycled materials. Birmingham Weekender relies on volunteers to welcome visitors and

Voiceboxx gets creative
Midlands marketing communications agency Voiceboxx have expanded its operation with the acquisition of Birmingham-based design firm WM Creative. The expansion has been
driven by increased customer demand for integrated marketing services and forms part of Voiceboxx’s ambitious plans for growth over the next 12 months. The two companies, which
have now rebranded as Voiceboxx: The Agency, bring together senior-level experts from across the PR, digital and creative arenas to offer a wider range of services to clients. Voiceboxx was previously
based at Staffordshire’s Dunston Business Village, while WM Creative was based at The Fireworks in Birmingham. Staff from both companies
have now moved into new headquarters in Birmingham’s historic Regent’s Place, in the heart of the creative and vibrant Jewellery Quarter.
