Leaders of tomorrow are ready

These 14 digital marketing postgraduate students from Birmingham City University have launched a new online campaign to showcase themselves as leaders of the next generation of advertisers and marketers. The campaign has been launched from the Future

Media Master’s programme at Birmingham City University. Collectively known as Digital Graffiti, they have devised an online showcase, which highlights the

talents of the group as a collective and then narrows in on the skillsets and aptitudes of each individual. The campaign is being positioned as a one-stop-

shop for industry, as employers seek to recruit the very best graduate talent. The students represent a broad range of

nationalities, coming from Belgium, China, Germany, Honduras, Iceland, India, Nigeria, Somalia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK.

Student’s design becomes a part of the furniture

A final year textile student in Birmingham has had his design brought to life thanks to a blossoming partnership between Birmingham City University and IKEA. The university approached the Swedish furniture giant earlier this year as

part of its annual Trends Project, and IKEA donated a POÄNG chair for textile students to create an original cover. Having impressed university academics and IKEA’s team, a design by

undergraduate Nader Nazari has been used to decorate the chair, and is on display in IKEA’s Birmingham Central store. Dawn Lloyd, unit manager at IKEA Birmingham Central, said: “Since

opening our Order and Collection Point in Birmingham city centre, the team here have been keen to build relationships with the local community and truly act as a good neighbour. “We are very pleased to forge a partnership with Birmingham City University and its students.”

said: “Reserves Day is an opportunity for employers to acknowledge and commemorate the courage and service of the thousands of individuals who devote their spare time to maintaining the security of our country. “Businesses are recognising the

skills Reservists can bring to civilian employment, and as proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant and recipients of the Bronze Award, this Chamber is fully committed to supporting them through such measures including Reserves Day.” Reservists are currently

supporting operations worldwide including in Afghanistan, countering the threat of Daesh in Iraq, UN peacekeeping in Cyprus, as well as global counter-terrorism and defence engagement tasks.

Masons Birmingham office and former president of Birmingham Chamber, says: “The West Midlands remains a crucial market for us and this is a significant moment given our roots in Birmingham dating back to 1836. “The region is undergoing an

economic renaissance as evidenced by the recent and planned moves here by organisations such as HS2, College for High Speed Rail, Jacobs engineering and HSBC.” Pinsent Masons has also

announced its acquisition of Brook Graham, a market-leading Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) consulting company for an undisclosed fee.

Aston University has appointed Dame Yve Buckland as its new pro chancellor and chair of council. Dame Buckland will succeed

Dr Paul Golby, who is stepping down after more than eight years in the role. The pro chancellor’s main function is to chair the University.

National Express West Midlands has presented Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity with almost £2,000 to help young patients and their families when they need it most. The bus company’s Birmingham Central garage, which has more than 700 employees, selected Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity as its community partner.
