Heavyweights help start-ups
Last summer Birmingham Chamber launched a scheme to help new entrepreneurs make a go of their fledgling businesses. The programme includes access to 11 half-day workshops, which offer
expert advice on areas such as market research, marketing and promotion, financial forecasting, raising finance, employing people, and selling skills. As part of this, the Chamber’s business start-up initiative has engaged
the help of a number of experienced professionals, who are willing to give their time on a voluntary basis, to help the start-ups. Anabela Ferreira, head of new enterprise at the Chamber, said: “There
are many problems that are encountered by business owners throughout the course of managing their business, and they must be prepared to solve any problems that arise as a result of running the business. “Often they are responsible for all aspects of the business and income
generation takes priority over all else even if this has a detrimental effect on the business in the long run. A balance is needed to ensure that income generation and management of the business is being addressed. Our aim is to help small business owners by providing them with some of the tools that will enable them strike a balance across all business activities.” “As a result we have a range of training events, which are run by field
experts. One of such events was a 90-day business development training session delivered by Kanayo Eruchalu from Action Coach, who introduced individuals to a systematic approach that will help them maximise their time and plan their business activities with a result driven approach. Kanayo, founder and CEO of Sinnergy, said: “I can show clients how to
increase their business revenue and profits, often quite dramatically, but also how to develop their business so that they, as the owner, can ultimately work less hours and still achieve more in the business.”
