What does your company do? Lightbox are a digital agency that build bespoke websites, e- commerce websites and apps. We then initialise digital marketing strategies encompassing SEO and Paid Search that help SMEs generate more enquiries and revenue from their digital channels.

How did it all start? Lightbox was born in 2007 from a tiny office in Lichfield. Two years ago we moved into Birmingham City Centre and it’s been the greatest decision to date. Being part of such a great city and business community is fundamental to our future growth and development.

What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken – and did it work out? It has to be starting the business ten years ago with no pre- established client base. I’m pleased to say that Lightbox is currently experiencing a massive period of growth and everyone is excited about the future opportunity and focused on progressing as a business.

What keeps you awake at night? Ideas. As a tech business, we have so many ideas for progression that it’s hard to switch off at times.

If you could turn the clock back, what would you do differently? I think I let economic forces beyond my control affect my mindset for too long in the years after the financial crash.

It was hard to switch to positivity when the market was down.

What has surprised you most in your job? What’s most surprised me over the years is how much I still love my job. There is always a new challenge as the business evolves.

What advice would you give to someone starting out? Be open minded, set up robust processes from the outset and work smart utilising technology to speed up admin tasks. Meet as many other business owners as you can and learn from them.

What exciting projects is your business working on? We are always running a number of exciting projects but in particular we are currently working on an e-commerce project that is redefining how an already successful business is working with their customers by moving to a digital approach.

What made you join Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and how are you making use of your membership? We joined Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce to help connect Lightbox to more businesses in the area. The Chamber will enable us to get involved in events throughout the year and build our network within a trusted member group.
