buildings in Birmingham and we believe its location at the heart of the UK will help us get closer to our 17 million customers across the UK.”
Among those coming to Birmingham is main contracting business Midgard, which is part of South East-based construction group JRL. JRL recorded pre-tax profits of
more than £16m last year, and the business saw a 15 per cent rise in turnover to £289m. The company is now the 45th largest in the UK’s construction sector. Last year, Midgard’s Mark Pinder
was runner-up in the NHBC ‘Supreme Awards’ – the ‘Oscars of the house-building industry’. The award was made in relation to Midgard’s £77m Newbury Racecourse residential project, one of 16,000 entrants in the competition. Midgard builds high-rise apartments and office blocks, carries out 80 per cent of the work involved in-house, including the manufacture of pre-cast blocks used.
Mark is Midgard’s Midlands’ operations manager and wants to Birmingham: the perfect location for business
locate the company’s new regional office in Birmingham city centre. He said: “We were given the opportunity to go to places like Manchester, but decided Birmingham was the place to be – there is more development over the forthcoming 15-20 years and greater opportunities in the city. “It’s a very good opportunity –
there is a lot of opportunity, and a lot of potential – there are many people moving into the area, such as the banks, and HS2 is happening as well, as we know. “We are already talking to

With St Paul’s Square becoming a fast growing
business district for boutique companies in Birmingham, Grosvenor House is home to numerous businesses wishing to have a location in the second city.” Birmingham is also the newest
location for American design and architecture firm Gensler, which is based at the Custard Factory in Digbeth. The firm’s Birmingham office
