As always, our retailer friends were hugely encouraging and eager to see how we plan to keep momentum going for 2014. We’ve seen five years of growth and another solid performance over the festive period, so we look forward to working with our retailer partners to make 2014 a success story, too. There is always such a great buzz at the show with months and months of hard work, planning and

creativity all coming to fruition and being revealed under one roof. There is a real sense of optimism in the wider industry for 2014, which was apparent and incredibly motivating at this year’s Toy Fair. We set out to excite and impress with our 2014 launch plans and received some fantastic feedback that is testament to our committed team of talented developers, and further assured us that we are on track for yet another year to remember. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2014. We shared our newest learning tablet additions alongside our freshest software content including many brand new AAA list licensed titles. We also showcased the wealth of new content available for our reading category which will see our LeapReader device in particular soar to even greater heights in 2014. Our new additions to the Learning Toy categories, Alpha Pup and the Sing and Play Farm, were also on show and received some excellent feedback. We would never miss the opportunity to share our latest news and celebrations with retailers and media alike, and here’s hoping that this time next year, we will be celebrating yet another year of growth.

It’s been 25 years since my last Toy Fair, when it was at Earls Court, and to be honest not much seems to have changed. I decided this year I would go to the Olympia show and share a stand with Zappies who is my e-commerce domestic supplier. I wanted to get a feel of how the Toy Fair is now since I’ve been living in Hong Kong for the past 20 years because most of our business is done there. It seemed like a time warp, I saw many of the same faces but they have just aged a bit in the meantime. The Zappies stand was up on the balcony, from where I could see all the companies on the ground

floor. There were lots of new ones, but many which have survived the last 25 years, which is pretty incredible considering how much the toy industry has changed in the last 5-10 years.

Toy Fair was a great success and the dual-sided stand featuring our Tatty Teddy and My Blue Nose Friends brand and the launch of our brand new Moshlings Collection worked well to inspire buyers. We used Toy Fair to launch The Moshlings Collection for the first time to trade and the reaction

couldn’t have been more positive. Being able to showcase the entire range of collectable plush, as it would be in a retail environment, including the innovative new POS solutions available resulted in a queue of interested retailers wishing to stock the collection. The Moshlings Collection will be supported by a heavyweight marketing campaign, including TV advertising on screens in April. With regular introductions for new

characters throughout 2014 and an exciting new gift collection launching before Christmas, we’re certain fans will be waiting in anticipation for the latest releases. As ever, the phenomenally successful Blue Nose Friends range will also see regular character launches throughout the year.

We have had three excellent shows this year including Nuremburg, London and Birmingham. We opened lots of new accounts and got some really positive feedback from our customers. We were really excited with the quality of retailers we saw including several high street multiples who are keen to carry the brand and a US film company who potentially want 45,000 puppets produced by the Summer. We launched 30 new puppets

at the BTHA Toy Fair, but the real hit of the show were the new ‘Snappers’. These bright coloured, noisy bird like creatures are a cross between Birds of Paradise and Venetian masks. Sounds weird but they are fantastic and sold very strongly but they would have looked very different had Sue and I not had a short break in Venice. We have several new

Doorway theatres and some beautiful sets of finger puppets complete with mini theatres arriving for the Autumn plus some fabulous large Sea Life and Dinosaur puppets. After four steady years of growth 2014 really is starting to look super positive.
