IMC Toys Terry Crew

Toy Fair was a fantastic show for us, we saw everyone we wanted to see and the reaction to our stand and product line was excellent. We had quite a few star products: our own line of Invizimals, Teutans and VIP pets, plus Lucy

the voice-activated dog were star attractions. We also had a great reaction to the Spiderman, Transformers and the MMCH infant pre-school ranges. So, as you can see, we were very pleased with the three days.

In this month’s edition of Touching Base, we asked exhibitors at this year’s BTHA Toy Fair how it went for them and which of their products received the best feedback at the show.

Toy Fair is always a great show as retailers who attend appreciate its importance. It is the platform and showroom for the year for retailers, suppliers and marketeers to see all the ranges in all their glory. The show is very important to us and achieved our goals of meeting new and existing customers to discuss plans and even take orders for 2014. We have great product launches across all our quality ranges, highlights include Hama My

Pocket Range updates, Wonderworld’s amazing Trix Tracks, Miniland’s new Educational Corner Range, Corolle’s Fashion Dolls and Munchkin Bath Toys. In 2014, DKL is celebrating 25 years of distributing quality brands and products, we have a new logo, new website and we will have very exciting news to announce shortly.

For us, this was one of the best Toy Fairs ever, in terms of visitor numbers and quality, show ambience and the huge interest in our products. It was an excellent move for us to have taken a bigger stand upstairs in the Gallery, as we had more space to demonstrate our new and refreshed lines, and we were in good company with many of the major UK toy companies close by. Our two major launches at the show were Logo Grab and Shout. Everybody loved them, and the laughter coming from our stand was amazing. In the simple-to-play Shout! game, two teams compete to solve sets of nine puzzles on huge cards to complete a Challenge. The brilliant thing about Shout! is that it really doesn’t matter whether or not you are good at general knowledge. There’s so much variety in the Challenge cards that it’s easy for absolutely everyone to join in the fun, and contribute to their team’s success. As well as a number of big launches, we’re giving a great deal of

care and attention to our existing top-selling products, several of which are being totally refreshed. Our publicity presence for our major titles, including TV advertising, PR, promotions and a huge amount of social media activity, is all lined up, and will be running from Easter right up to Christmas week.

Epoch Making Toys Sally Carnall

Our fi rst Toy Fair was well above expectations with an order book into six fi gures which we are extremely pleased about considering our fi elds sales force is new to Epoch and to the toy industry. Our retail customers were very positive regarding the changes we have made and our direction for the future. Our Sylvanian Families Cosy Cottage had a fantastic reaction. It was the winner in

the Toy Fair Playset category. We also took the cottage along with some of our other new products to the Demo zone to demonstrate the Connectability feature and it had a great reaction from the children. The new baby and child theme was also very popular, with the number one product being the Country Tree School.

2014 will see us giving complete focus to our brands. This will be the largest recruitment programme the brand has ever

experienced covering digital, social media, TV, children press and adult press, mummy bloggers and, of course, a revitalised Mascot event available to everyone.
