Tree Fu Tom to benefi t from brand campaign


Lego Duplo launches new sets


Fremantle is launching a major brand awareness and retail campaign to support Flair’s Spring/Summer toy range and other Tree Fu Tom licensed products. The campaign kicked off with a major Tree Fu Tom


promotion in 600 First Choice and Thomson stores throughout January; the retailer’s highest month for footfall. This includes distribution of 60,000 Tree Fu Tom activity sheets with a competition and a branded FSDU in each store. In February there were brand new episodes on


CBeebies and February half term, saw Tree Fu Tom Live Shows exclusively at Westfi eld shopping centres in London, Derby and Merry Hill. Tree Fu Tom was featured in fi ve performances a day and was supported by retailer activity with The Entertainer in each venue. February also saw two nationwide promotions with major toy retailers. May will see the launch of the new Tree Fu Tom zone within CBeebies Land at Alton Towers, Tree Fu Tom’s Training Camp, supported by a major PR and marketing campaign.


Following the success of Creative Cakes, Lego Duplo is launching Creative Ice Cream, Creative Picnic and Creative Animals. Offering entry-level and gift giving price points, each sku has unisex appeal and identifi able themes, whilst multi-functionality makes them a valuable learning toy. The Creative Picnic set features


bread, meat, ketchup, lettuce and various other bricks, while Creative Ice Cream features a collection of colourful Duplo brick scoops of ice cream, toppings and cones. Creative Animals includes inspiration cards to help children assemble a giraffe, bunny, dog and worm, and the box lids double as a serving tray. January sees the launch of three new brick boxes: the All-in-One Gift Set, All-in-One Box of Fun and All-in-One Pink Box of Fun. Each set features a diverse assortment of bricks providing a good introduction to construction whilst allowing pre-schoolers to mix and match with their existing range. My First Police Set, My First Shop and Farm Tractor feature detailed functionality for added


play value, with decorated bricks and attractive price points to help drive spontaneous purchase. Joining Lego Duplo’s Disney Princess line is Sleeping Beauty’s Fairy Tale.


Something Special and HTI team up


BBC Worldwide has revealed details of its fi rst wheeled toy licence with HTI for Something Special. The licence covers Move and Groove scooters, Quad skates, 10 bike, 12 bike, and Balance Bikes which are all set to roll out Autumn/Winter 2014. Andrew Coplestone, HTI licensing director, commented: “We are delighted to be working with the BBC on such a fl agship CBeebies properties. As a leading manufacturer in wheeled toys, we are looking forward to applying our design and development expertise, combined with such a bold, colourful brand identity to deliver a winning range of wheeled toys that truly is ‘something special’.” Clare Piggott, head of merchandising at BBC Worldwide, added: “It’s exciting to be launching

BBC takes on Octonauts season four


The BBC has acquired a fourth season of Silvergate Media’s pre-school show Octonauts, consisting of 24 x 11-minute episodes and two 22-minute specials. Geraint Marsh, SVP global distribution and consumer


products, America and France, Silvergate Media, said: “CBeebies’ continuous broadcast and support has provided a solid foundation for the Octonauts brand to grow. Galt launches Nursery Trampoline
