TRIATHLON SWIMMERS PREFER POOLSAN TO CHLORINE

Swim For Tri, one of London’s leading swim improvement specialists has converted their Canary Wharf pool from chlorine to PoolSan. The busy training pool is used

by both professional and amateur athletes

for intensive swim

Bringing the luxury of sauna or steam bathing into a

conventional

bathroom where space is an issue is made possible with two new products from Swedish manufacturer, Tylö and UK distributor Golden Coast. The minimalistic i1309 sauna and

i110/c steam shower units each take up no more than 1.3 square metres of floor space, yet provide generous space inside for two adults and provide all the functions expected from larger conventional sauna cabins and steam rooms, including built-in LED lighting and an exclusive hygrometer and thermometer. With the option of two different

sauna heaters, the i1309 ‘Home Spa’ can be equipped either as a traditional sauna or to include soothing steam sauna. The benches are constructed from heat treated dark ash, whilst two interior walls are clad in knot-free blonde aspen, with the remaining glazed walls incorporating matching detachable

‘modesty’ louvers and the patented Tylö toughened glass sauna door. For those preferring the gentler

heat of steam bathing, the i110/c corner

unit provides the

combination of a conventional shower and 100% humidity steam bathing to a maximum temperature of 45°C. Built around the same unique

profile of the Tylö Impression range of shared showers and steam rooms, the fully glazed i110/c features Tylö’s unique multi-function shower column, incorporating a control panel operating the built-in steam generator that feeds the discreet steam outlet. A thermostatically controlled mixer tap operates the fixed overhead shower rose and separate hand shower.

improvement training. With full underwater filming facilities, it is vital that the water clarity is perfect at all times. Swim For Tri hold training sessions at Market Sports in Shoreditch, a busy 25m pool that has been PoolSan treated and completely chlorine free for 18 months. Having experienced the superior air and water quality at Market Sports, the decision to replace chlorine with PoolSan was an easy one for Swim For Tri to make. Triathlon athletes sometimes

exercise for prolonged periods and being able to train in a chlorine- free atmosphere is a great benefit, particularly for any asthma and eczema sufferers. Furthermore the Swim For Tri staff spend several hours a day in the pool and this in the past has caused skin problems. These issues were totally

resolved with the

introduction of PoolSan complete chlorine replacement. “Changing from chlorine to

PoolSan was easy,” said Head Coach Ray Gibbs, “The atmosphere in and around the pool is now healthier for staff and clients. Our pool is crystal clear and the whole building is fresher without the smell of chlorine. It’s a very good product, it’s easy to use and it delivers excellent results. “Previously I suffered from

psoriasis on my hands which was aggravated by the chlorine.

I

didn’t think I put my hands in the water that much but obviously I did.

Since we changed to

PoolSan it has completely cleared up which is an added benefit I wasn’t expecting.” PoolSan complete chlorine

replacement is the only option for commercial pools and spas that want to operate totally without chlorine. Already used by a diverse range of clients, including selected Hilton sites, Color Line cruise ships, Campbell Gray hotels and some Fusion Lifestyle sites, PoolSan chlorine free pools are proving a popular choice for operators and bathers alike.

Worthing pool open for 2013

Worthing’s new swimming pool, claimed to be one of the best in Sussex, could be open in February 2013. The application for replacing Worthing’s

ageing Aquarena

includes a six-lane, 25-metre competition pool in the £17m specification, which many people have criticised as not being ambitious enough. Also planned is a combined

learner/diving pool with one and three-metre boards, indoor leisure pool with flume, outdoor water pool for paddling and water play, a health and fitness centre, café and flexible studio space for other activities. The

architects’

submission said: “The pools are expected to draw people from a larger catchment area than the existing facilities.” Council leader Paul Yallop said:

“The bold, exciting design will contribute significantly towards the regeneration of this area and help meet the Masterplan aim of creating an active and vibrant seafront.”
