Angus Council will have to make around £30m worth of savings over the next four years but swimming clubs have been told that the project will begin on schedule in January next year. The pool project survives despite councillor Alex King claiming the pool project should be dropped to help meet the target. He said: “When you are

facing a pay cut you don’t buy a new car. The council is facing cuts that are going to be horrendous. How can it make sense to proceed with building a new swimming pool which will involve additional ongoing burdens on revenue?” Council Chief Executive

David Sawers said the scheme is a high priority. He said: “The council faces unprecedented financial challenges for the foreseeable future and it is therefore essential that it plans both its service provision and its finances on a medium term basis.” The Angus Council face tighter funding from the Scottish Government and may face the prospect of reducing services and staff numbers.

DESJOYAUX LAUNcHES NEw LONgEr LIfE POOL fILTEr cArTrIDgE

Desjoyaux has launched a new pool filter cartridge that extends the filter cleaning interval for up to two months. Tests carried out on 200 pools during the 2008 and 2009 seasons show the new filter, JD Master Filter, can be used for at least two months without cleaning. This development now provides

an option for owners with holiday homes who can now leave their pool unattended for long periods of time. The new filtration cartridge is the

result of a number of technological innovations designed to make the Desjoyaux filtration process even more beneficial by significantly increasing the time intervals between filter cleaning operations

and providing an improved and even more user friendly product. It increases the cleaning interval

for the filtration element between six and eight times more than the current 15 micron standard filter bag. It has a new pre-filter basket built in to collect the largest polluting items like leaves and insects, etc. There is a stainless steel handle

to make it easier to install and remove and cleaning the filter when required is simplicity itself taking just minutes to complete. The JD Master Filter, is effective for at least three seasons. The JD Master Filter and its pre-

filter basket have a 1-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

the water through the system. Once the season is over, the portable unit is simply disconnected and drained before being stored away until the next year. SolarPro is available from stock for
