service center in Mexico. Located in Puerto Interior, Silao, Gua- najuato, the new facility will offer local service and support to in- jection molding and die casting customers throughout the country. “Tis is a thriving market for us,” said Toshiba Machine

America General Manager Tom McKevitt. “With our new service center, we can pursue additional injection molding busi- ness in this fast-growing Mexican market and back it up with the support that Toshiba is known for providing to its customers.” According to McKevitt, having locally-based service engineers is a major advantage. “Tey have the in-depth knowledge and technical expertise needed to quickly, easily help our injection molding and die casting machine custom- ers maximize the productivity of their systems,” he said. Te office’s location in the Nippon Express Guanajuato

Logistics Center business and industrial hub in central Mexico puts it in close proximity to major manufacturers and a variety of transportation options. Founded in 1875 as the Shibaura Engineering Works Co.,

Toshiba Machine is a global organization with 28 locations in 14 countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Its products range from injection molding systems, diecasting machines and machine tools to precision machinery, hydrau- lic equipment and electronic controls. ■

Puerto Interior

ASK Chemicals Receives BMW Innovation Award for Sustainability ASK获BMW可持续发展创新奖

Te BMW Group has honored ASK Chemicals, Hilden,

Germany, as one of its eight most innovative suppliers, in the sustainability category. CEO Frank Coenen accepted the award for the development of the INOTEC generation of inorganic binders for high-volume series production in engine casting. Te industrial implementation of this innovation was a joint

feat by BMW and ASK Chemicals, which set high benchmarks for emissions protection and economy. “In the years of collaborative development between ASK

Chemicals and BMW, the composition and manufacture of inor- ganic binders were perfected to such a degree that they were able to replace organic binder systems in high-volume series produc- tion. Tis has enabled the BMW Group to implement zero- emission foundries and to further improve working conditions for its employees. At the same time, productivity and the quality of the casting components have increased,” said BMW of its reasons for honoring ASK Chemicals. Working together, BMW and ASK Chemicals have devel- oped and brought to market a key technology for inorganic core production technology. “Te innovation award is an incentive for us to keep on

researching and developing products, in order to bring these to industrial viability together with our partners. However, the idea and the innovative product are nothing without the reso- lute will of the user to successfully implement a new technol- ogy on an industrial scale,” said Coenen. ■
