DEUX CITROËN MAGNIFIQUE! W
e may be ‘leaving’ Europe but we will always adore their cars. In this issue,
we look to the French to lead the way with two superb hatchbacks from Citroen. First up, the Citroen C3 top-of-the-
range Flair is very eye-catching. Dark-tinted rear windows and an onyx car roof contrasts its white body, 16” Matrix alloys exude sporty prowess and sturdy, compact shape make the C3 is a solid, powerful looking hatchback. What stands out for us is the innovatively designed side impact panels. The Airbump© is an exterior sheathing which protects the Flair from those annoying taps to the car door which can sometimes happen in tight underground parking spaces. It provides a cushioning of tiny airpockets and complements the internal SIPS for extra safety and warmth, with the added bonus of course of an interesting style feature. The cabin of this 5-door, 5-seater is
spacious and airy thanks to a panoramic sunroof with special shading features and is dotted with bright, textiles, soft shapes and vibrant colour on the armrests, the edge of the seating and across the dashboard which creates a confident, optimistic environment. A large, deep storage compartment helps to maintain a clean, clutter-free space for convenience and concentration. The C3 is awash with driver friendly features such as reverse camera, 3D connected navigation with voice recognition, departure lane warning and

blind spot monitoring and ConnectedCAM Citroen which records your driving experience and could provide valuable footage in accidents. When we got out on the road we
quickly realised that the Citroen C3 handles smoothly and confidently. It is responsive in the top gears and has better torque in the lower ratios, achieving 0-62mph in 10 seconds, it’s agile in built up areas, easy to park and very economical, delivering up to 76mpg. The Citroen C3 Flair is a high quality and affordable all-rounder, available from £17,765.

two-door DS3 Cabrioletwas also a thrill. Be in no doubt, this is a car built for sporting pleasure. Its muscular contoured body, 18” black ultralight alloys and elongated front headlamps give it a feline, dynamic appearance while gloss gold wing mirrors and roof and the super shiny style feature around the windows capture light contrasting the performance black matt to make it a very attractive vehicle indeed. and soft-to-the-touch materials, it’s like stepping into electrifying nightlife. And it is thrills that this car promises. With its THP 208 S&S high performance engine mated to 6-speed manual gearbox with Torsen limited-slip differential to conjure 205bhp, this is a very capable vehicle. DS Performance sports suspension with wider track 300Nm torque make the DS3 a skilful negotiator of tight corners, it crouches deep into the road and flies as smooth and as quiet as a bat at speeds up to 142mph with a 0-62mph starter of 6.5 seconds.
