TWO PURRING PEUGEOTS – THE LION ROARS TONIGHT O

n Car Test this month we were lucky enough to take Peugeot 308 for a test

drive. Sporting a re-profiled front bumper, bonnet and radiator grille, the 308 has a smarter, lighter, sleeker look. A new LED headlighting signature and alloy wheels further complement a trend update. Inside, a compact multi-function steering wheel is in place for greater driver control, a heads- up instrument panel places key information closer to the road and the 9.7” capacitive touchscreen with smartphone levels of responsiveness is just one of the technological features the GT offers across the range. To enhance its sporty design, the new

Peugeot 308 GT features the new BlueHDi 180hp combined with the new EAT8 8- speed automatic gearbox. It’s lighter so produces a 5% reduction in fuel consumption and driving feels safer and responsive throughout the drive. EAT8 can be controlled via the steering column mounted paddles to ensure optimum control. The cabin is spacious with plenty of head and legroom and storage is cleverly positioned to create an uncluttered environment. The Peugeot 308 GT-Line is a smart choice starting from £22,900 OTR. Let’s now turn our attention to the

Peugeot 2008 SUV, just voted Auto Express Driver Power Best Small SUV 2017 and we agree whole heartedly. Brilliant Black 17” alloy wheels, black chrome radiator grille with embossed pendant design, gloss black door mirrors and black roof bars give you a taste of the drama and performance the Peugeot 2008 SUV. It’s compact and comfortably agile at speeds up to 124mph with economy at 58.9mpg in the Extra Urban cycle. Inside, the innovative

Peugeot 308

layout in the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® makes driving intuitive, agile and safe as the ergonomic driving position helps focus attention on the road ahead. The compact sports steering wheel sits lower than a traditional design and means that your arms are both lower and closer together. This not only reduces driver fatigue but offers more precise steering and improved manoeuvrability. The head-up instrument panel allows driver information to be viewed above, rather than through, the steering wheel and is therefore accessed

without taking your eyes off the road. In addition, the large multifunction colour touchscreen places all the functionality at your fingertips. The 2008 SUV offers a reasonable 57mpg and is quiet at high speeds. A high driver position and ample head and legroom with plentiful storage throughout a high-quality cabin make this a considerate travelling companion. The Peugeot SUV 2008 GT is available from £20,400. For more information on both models visit peugeot.co.uk or call 0845 200 1234.
