In 2012 they commenced development of the 274 room Turner Court building, again in the Shieldfield area of Newcastle, which was completed in time to open for the 2013/14 academic year and achieved BREEAM Excellent status and secured by design accreditation. Turner Court benefits from a nomination agreement with Newcastle University and retail tenancies with Tesco Express and Subway on the ground floor. In 2014 they

NEWCASTLE CITY POOL AND TURKISH BATHS F


usion Lifestyle has unveiled its plans for the £5 million redevelopment of Newcastle City Pool and Turkish Baths. The charity, which specialises in restoring and transforming facilities, has been granted a lease by Newcastle City Council, which will see the City Pool and Turkish baths reopen after three years. The deal means the company can use its expertise to regenerate the iconic Grade II listed building and bring the leisure facilities back into use for the community. Plans include the restoration of the City


Pool and Turkish Baths, new sport and fitness facilities, improved access for disabled people and a new café/bistro. The project is due for completion in spring 2018. Peter Kay, Chief Executive of Fusion Lifestyle, said: “Once one of the most popular sports and leisure facilities in the city, the historic City Pool and Turkish Baths was closed in 2013.


“In that time, the beautiful yet dilapidated building has fallen even further into disrepair – we will not only restore it - but also transform the iconic building into a facility everyone in Newcastle can use and enjoy.”
