ROLLING IN THE DEEP WITH RENAULT
W
e look this month at two superb crossovers from Renault, the Kadjar Signature and Captur Dynamique. First up, the Kadjar, which is a spectacularly muscular vehicle which isn’t afraid to show its feminine side. Its contours flow smoothly over and around its broad, high- waisted frame offering an appealing contrast to the more aggressively styled crossovers currently on the market. Dynamic styling at the base of the doors and subtle chrome finishing at its nose, roof rails and around the side window frames add further charm to this gloriously free- flowing vehicle. The 19” alloy wheels are impressive and bold against this fluidity and signal the Kadjar’s superb road holding ability. When we climbed inside, the panoramic glass roof allows so much light to flood the cabin, you could almost think you were still outside. The styling is understated and elegant with enough top stitching and leather covered handles to furnish any luxury saloon. The dCI 130 two- wheel drive engine return a terrific 62.8 mpg in the combined cycle and achieves 0- 62 mph in 10 seconds. We took the Kadjar across the rolling landscape of the South Downs National Park, literally up hill and down dale from Findon to Beacon Hill, skirting the villages of Burghclere and Watership Down and found this highly
Renault Captur
responsive 16 valve engine delivers power in a smooth, assertive and versatile way. A great drive. Try it for yourselves. The Renault Captur, now here’s a state-
of-the-art interior to relish. We loved the technology in this cabin, particularly
Renault’s on-board touch screen tablet Media Nav, which provides access to useful and practical features including navigation, media from multiple sources, handsfree telephone using Bluetooth® technology and ECO mode giving you advice to reduce your daily fuel consumption. Fantastique. There are also applications to download from the R-LINK Store. You can control it from the screen, steering wheel controls or even voice command. The package also includes a reverse parking camera and European mapping. We all know parking can be tricky, and you wouldn’t want to scratch this beauty, which is why Captur offers rear parking sensors to alert you of any obstacles behind the car with a series of increasingly rapid beeps. The dCI 110 engine offers a huge fuel return of 76.4 mpg in the combined cycle and has plenty of torque. And, as you’ll know if you’ve seen it out on the road the Captur is a gorgeously designed car, with a sweeping, raked back windscreen which gives a great view of the road and floods the cabin with light, a curvaceous front nose and a high and assertive road stance. We enjoyed being captive to the Captur for too brief a week and was sad to see it go. Renault Kadjar Signature Nav dCi 130 is available from £18,495 OTR, whilst the Renault Captur Dynamique dCi 110 Manual can be yours at £14,575. For full details or to book a test drive visit
