DM HALL UNVEILS NEW-LOOK BRAND IDENTITY D

M Hall LLP, one of Scotland's leading independent firms of Chartered

Surveyors, has launched a new brand identity which celebrates a marked evolution of its highly-visible and long- standing image.

The firm, which was established in

Edinburgh in 1897 and is poised to celebrate its 120th anniversary next year, is represented in 25 offices across Scotland.

With its ubiquitous Home Reports on

the condition and value of Scotland’s residential properties and its high street property boards advertising commercial properties to sell or let, the DM Hall brand identity is a familiar sight in all parts of the country. Over the next few months, however, starting this month, the highly-familiar DM Hall brand identity will be seen to become more contemporary. Eric Curran, managing partner at DM

Hall, said: “While we have a long and distinguished history, we are proud of how we have adapted through the years to ensure we continually meet the growing needs of our clients.

“As we approach our 120th

anniversary in 2017, we have the perfect opportunity to ensure that our visual identity reflects who we are now. The new brand, we believe, evokes our self- image as modern, professional, leaders in our field, providing the full complement of property services from residential and

commercial to building surveying and rural services, and everything in between. “Our re-branding gives us a more modern and progressive visual identity that we can build on by developing a yet- stronger public property voice.” DM Hall marketing manager Neil

McKenzie said: “The new brand design is bold and continues to deliver messages of strength, reliability and trust but in a

conomic reports quote that despite economic GDP growth for Q1 2016 sitting at 0.4%, down on the Q1 2015 figure of 0.6%, and a general fall of 12% from Q4 2015 in occupier take-up, Glasgow has seen one of the highest take-up rates across UK regional cities.

This is against a back drop of a reduction in Grade A supply across regional cities generally. With a recovery in tenant demand, coupled with a general lack of supply, speculative development is increasing and Glasgow is no exception. The largest transaction in the city was the 155,000 sq.ft pre-let of 122 Bothwell Street, representing the largest letting in Glasgow since 2013. A second 215,000 sq.ft development at 177

Bothwell Street has recently been granted planning permission. Market reports quote that there is over 600,000 sq.ft of live requirements in the Glasgow office market with only just over 300,000 sq.ft of available Grade A stock. With an upcoming increase in lease events in Glasgow, occupier requirements are anticipated to continue increasing. Market forces are therefore likely to see rents increase. At Whitecross Building Consultancy an increasing trend of refurbishment and extension of existing facilities has been experienced. Graeme Scott, Managing Director, says “over the last 18 months a number of our clients who were considering relocating their operation to an alternative property have decided to refurbish or even to extend their existing premises to provide exactly what they require instructing Whitecross to provide associated feasibility, design and project management services to achieve their objective. This is a result of the lack of quality space being available and we anticipate this trend will continue to be experienced for the foreseeable future”.

he recent flurry of letting activity at 133 Finnieston Street continues with the news that Castlight Financial has signed

up for a 5 year lease for 2,614 sq.ft on the sixth floor of the building, prominently located in Glasgow’s West End. It is the fourth company to lease space in the building owned

by Squarestone Growth LLP since the beginning of the year and follows the arrival of Spencer British Engineering, Handelsbanken and Phonesmart.

Castlight Financial is a new breed of Financial Technology

(FinTech) companies who are redefining the market. They are the first in the UK to provide a real time affordability and financial capability analysis on consumers on behalf of banks, car finance, utilities, financial brokers and other providers of credit, reporting to the FCA.

Castlight brings transparency to the financial services sector

by implementing the learnings from the credit crunch, with their products preventing irresponsible lending and borrowing. Phil Grady, CEO of Castlight Financial said: “We are delighted

to be moving to 133 Finnieston Street, as the growth of the business has been spectacular over the last 12 months. We are on a recruitment drive to employ key technology developers and want an impressive office that will demonstrate to our people that we are creating something special from within.” Situated to the western periphery of Glasgow City Centre, the building offers panoramic views of the city and is close to SSE Hydro and restaurants and bars of this lively area which was recently voted one of the hippest places in the UK. Letting agent, Fergus Maclennan of Cushman & Wakefield

added: “We are delighted to welcome Castlight Financial to 133 Finnieston Street. It is pleasing to achieve another letting at the building so quickly and to continue on from our recent leasing success. We currently have good levels of interest in the remaining space with suites available from 1,000 sq.ft – 6,500 sq.ft.”

more appealing and interactive way. The website and the accompanying artwork will reinforce all of these messages and represents a development with which everyone associated with DM Hall is excited.”

The new brand identity has been

developed by Glasgow-based design agency, Levy McCallum. Its MD, John McCallum, said: “This is not simply a new logo – it is much more than that. A re- vitalised website which is fit for purpose and refreshed visual identity that mirrors DM Hall’s approach. “Moving away from the traditional

yellow boards to a fresh new look, the re- branded identity will see a top to bottom rejuvenation – from website, brochures and stationery to the For Sale boards encountered in every part of Scotland.” For further information about DM
