FANS Prevention rather than cure

ebm-papst fans are made from high quality components, which ensures that the life expectancy of the fan is much longer than a cheaply made fan; the components have been rigorously tested to ensure they are best-suited to their intended purpose.
These German-engineered, German-made fans set the standard when it comes to reliability and performance.
Smart technology
ebm-papst has developed modulated fans with variable speed technology, giving supermarkets greater control over how hard the fans work within a refrigerated display cabinet. There are two speed control variations available. The first option is a two speed, auto- programmed fan which can be connected to the Building Management System (BMS), so the fans will run at different speeds depending on the time-period to which it is programmed.
The second available variation is an external zero to 10 volt control, which can either be controlled automatically, by the BMS, or manually.
Alarms can be triggered by the fans, enabling their users to be forewarned as to whether a fan is struggling. Coupled with the speed control, this allows the end user to be informed, with the option to change the speed of the fans and take preventive action.
In addition, many cheaply made fans are only suited to functioning in a specific environment, meaning that even a slight change in the surrounding climate can cause them to fail. However, ebm-papst has made its fans more robust and allowed for ‘headroom’ within the fans durability. This ensures that if, for example, the fans were to be put under increased pressure, the cabinet would still be able to maintain the correct temperature.

The payback period seen through switching from AC to EC fans is compelling, as these fans quickly pay for themselves.
AB Group, which recently partnered with ebm- papst to rolls out 1,404 fans across 152 Marks and Spencer stores, states: “EC fan and motor technology can show significant Total Cost of Ownership benefits to retail end-users. “Results are repeatedly positive in our post implementation studies of various field trials in the sector.”
In line with the GreenTech philosophy, ebm- papst continuously challenges itself to make fans quieter. Therefore, even when these fans are running at their highest rotational speed they are still extremely quiet, providing an improved experience for customers.
In response to a growing demand, ebm-papst has also engineered smaller, more compact motors to put into the fans’ housing units. Using these more compact motors leaves more space remaining inside the cabinets, so supermarkets can fill them with more produce. With a greater amount of produce being added, it also became essential that fans were capable of keeping up with an increased demand. Accordingly, fans with increased power have been added to this design series.
