ENERGY SAVING EQUIPMENT Hitachi H
itachi’s new modular air cooled cooling only and heat pump chillers’ outstanding performance is achieved through DC inverter scroll technology delivering infinite capacity control across all cooling loads and ambient temperatures.
EC fans with more efficient motors and better aerodynamics improve system efficiency, while the high efficiency brazed plate heat exchanger uses less refrigerant and transfers heat from the liquid to the refrigerant more efficiently, providing excellent heat transfer performance in a very compact size. This also results in a lower water side pressure drop, allowing the use of smaller pumps and reducing power consumption.

edicated to Nearly-Zero Energy single houses and apartment buildings with decentralised system, ELFOPack is an “all in one” air-source heat pump unit, which covers the needs of heating, cooling, hot water production, mechanical ventilation with thermodynamic heat recovery and electronic filtration.
It uses the ducts of controlled mechanical ventilation for maintaining ambient comfort. ELFOPack reduces capital costs, management costs and simplifies installation and design, providing architects and designers with the opportunity to foresee the plant for comfort and energy saving at design phase, guaranteeing perfect building-system integration.
The main features include:
■ Ambient comfort through a compact system using heat pump technology for introducing air into the rooms at the ideal conditions of temperature and humidity. Thanks to the low thermal inertia, it quickly meets the required cooling or heating load.
■ Domestic hot water production, simultaneously to heating and cooling, with very low energy consumption in winter, and free in summer.
■ Continuous air purification, using electronic filters, with efficiency higher than 99.9%.
■ High efficiency through active recovery of the energy contained in the exhaust air, free-cooling and free-heating, exploitation of renewable energy.
■ Decentralized solution: no waste of energy of a centralised system, such as distribution losses and pipeline pumping power.

Starting at under 2sqm, it’s the smallest footprint chiller across the widest capacity range on the market, making it ideal for high performance in smaller spaces. Installation is straightforward with a compact size for forklift loading, and its modular configuration allows units to be arranged in varying footprints to fit different space requirements. This unique modular design means capacity can be increased incrementally as buildings are constructed or spaces become occupied. And if maintenance is required, other modules in the system will continue to operate, helping to reduce downtime and loss of capacity.
The new scroll chillers can maintain efficiency in a wide variety of conditions – down to an impressive -17.8°C ambient in cooling mode, and -15°C ambient in heating mode. And as you’d expect, Hitachi’s new modular scroll chillers are fully SEER Ecodesign T2 compliant, delivering 2021 efficiency standards today.

rascold’s revolutionary Reduced Suction Heads (RSH) for reciprocating compressors save energy while reducing compressor wear. Most manufacturers have unloading heads that simply block off refrigerant flow to one or more cylinder banks. Frascold’s RSH heads avoid the problems associated with standard unloading by preventing a vacuum condition in the unloaded cylinder bank. This prevents undue compressor stress and allows the compressor to run unloaded indefinitely.
The practice of stopping and starting a compressor to regulate cooling capacity also works, but is inefficient and is limited by technical constraints. Generally speaking, reciprocating compressors should only be started and stopped eight to 10 times per hour at most. Compressor run time should be between at least two to five minutes to ensure proper oil circulation in the system and allow operating conditions to stabilize. These compressor limitations can cause large temperature deviations in the room

because the refrigeration system has to over- cool the room to compensate for the time the compressor is off. This means that the compressor or system has to operate at a lower saturated suction temperature (SST) which means lower efficiency.
A Frascold compressor equipped with RSH heads can even out temperature fluctuations, improve energy efficiency, and avoid undue heat, vibration and potential compressor damage.
