29.6.18.2 Significance of the impact


204. The impact of the converter station on this view would be not significant. The screening effect of the vegetation reduces the magnitude of change and the sensitivity of the viewpoint is limited by the infrequency at which viewers would experience this view.


29.6.19 Viewpoint 16 – PROW, north-east of site


205. The viewpoint description, value, susceptibility and sensitivity of this viewpoint are described in relation to the impacts during construction in section 2.5.10. The sensitivity of the view was found to be medium in respect of walkers.


29.6.19.1 Magnitude of change 206. The converter station is located 0.57km from the viewpoint. The location of the converter station behind the intervening woodland at Gobert’s Grove means that the majority of the building would be concealed by woodland. There is sufficient depth to the woodland that even during the winter months when the trees are bare, views of the converter station would remain mostly screened.

If glimpsed views were to occur, visibility would typically comprise parts of the roof structure seen above the lower tree tops. In contrast to the closer range pylons, the building would appear low and its full length would not be apparent. Taking all these factors into account, the magnitude of change would be medium to low.


29.6.19.2 Significance of the impact


208. The impact of the converter station on the viewpoint would be not significant. Despite the proximity of the viewpoint, the screening impact of intervening woodland at Gobert’s Grove ensures the converter station would not redefine the character of the view.
