public spaces and private gardens. This minor road, therefore, presents one of the few opportunities for clear views towards the site. The hedgerow along the minor road has been removed such that views towards the converter station would be gained along much of its length. The view is representative of the views of road- users and walkers, who may use this route.
168. There are also a small number of residents with properties set along the minor road. Their orientation is west, such that they would not gain direct views towards the converter station to the north-west, although oblique views may be possible. There is high coniferous hedging to the rear and northern sides of the properties which largely screens views from the garden grounds. Burstall Hall is orientated south and enclosed by mature tree cover. Visibility of the proposed project from the hall and grounds would be largely screened.
169. The view is characterised by the open expanse of the arable fields which occupy the majority of its extents. Without intermittent hedgerows, this landscape lacks the pattern and visual interest found in the more enclosed agricultural landscapes. As such, the view extends out to the low skyline, where the level of the land falls away and where more distant woodland and tree cover forms an enclosing edge. The mast, pylons and pole-mounted transmission line are seen along the skyline, some fully exposed and some partially screened by the tree cover.
170. While pockets of surrounding woodland add to the character of the landscape, the extent to which the land has been modified by agriculture, the presence of residential development around the fringes and pylons along the skyline, emphasise the settled character of this landscape.
29.6.10.2 Value
171. The value of this view is limited by the fact that it is not taken from a recognised viewpoint, nor is it a view people would come specifically to experience. It is an incidental view that would be experienced by road-users or walkers passing along the minor road. The landscape in the view is not subject to any scenic landscape designations which would otherwise denote a special sensitivity and the view is typical of the wider agricultural landscape, lacking any special features or attributes which would otherwise enhance the landscape character. This view has local value as it relates to the village context and the access to Burstall Hall. The value of the view is medium.
29.6.10.3 Susceptibility
172. The susceptibility of walkers and road-users is limited by the distance of the road from the proposed project and the limited number of walkers and road users who
