144. Scenario 2: - Impacts of Onshore Cable Route Construction on Visual Amenity of Section 6


145. The principal visual receptors in this section include Great Bealings and Little Bealings, the minor roads, and PROWs. The baseline assessment identified a medium to high sensitivity for walkers on the PRoW, a medium sensitivity for road- users on the minor roads and cyclists on the NCR 1, and a medium to high sensitivity for residents in nearby settlements.


146. The magnitude of change of road-users on the minor roads leading into Great Bealings and Little Bealings would be medium. A 35m working width would be cleared of vegetation where the onshore cable route crosses these routes. Road- users would be travelling at speeds, typically above 30mph, such that, while the open section and linear construction process would be apparent, the duration of the view would be brief and the losses would be seen as relatively short sections in a landscape where the hedgerows are relatively abundant. The impact on road-users would be not significant.


147. The magnitude of change on walkers on the PRoWs would be medium. 35m sections of hedgerow would be removed where these routes cross the onshore cable route and this, combined with the presence of the construction machinery and linearity of the construction process would change the views from the PRoWs within the localised areas around these removals. The impacts would be significant and short term lasting the duration of the construction process. The impacts of the construction activities and the removals would dissipate with distance and would give rise to low to negligible magnitudes of change on the remaining parts of the PRoWs and the impacts would be not significant.


148. Scenario 2: - Impacts of Onshore Cable Route Construction on Visual Amenity of Section 7


149. The principal visual receptors in this section include the Fynn Valley Walk and the minor roads, Clopton Lane to the east and Wintesham Road to the west. The baseline assessment identified a medium to high sensitivity for walkers on the Fynn Valley Walk and a medium to low sensitivity for road-users on the minor roads.


150. The magnitude of change on road-users on Clopton Lane and Wintesham Road would be medium. A 35m working width would be cleared of vegetation where the onshore cable route crosses these routes. Road-users would be travelling at speeds, typically above 30mph, such that, while the open section would be apparent, the duration of the view would be brief and the losses would be seen as relatively short
