monthly aerial surveys came from a sample of over 100 flying individuals, a statistically robust sample size. These site-specific data were used as input parameters to run through Basic Band CRM Option 1 with site-specific PCH. A number of seabirds had a sample size of under 100 flying individuals from the site-specific surveys, too few for a statistically robust average to be calculated. In these instances, where a species was observed in too few numbers (e.g. lesser black-backed gull), or where not observed at all from site-specific surveys (e.g. migrant Arctic terns) the estimates from Cook et al. (2012) were used in the modelling to represent the percentage of birds flying through the site at PCH in Basic Band CRM Option 1 with generic PCH.
