5.3.7.1 Bio-season mean peak estimates 58. Gannet is a species for which an overlapping occurrence of spring and autumn passage birds and more local breeding birds had been noted from an examination of the monthly occurrence of the data. The biological mean peak estimates have been produced by apportioning the spring and autumn passage birds out of the breeding bio-season and in to the spring and autumn migration bio-seasons to account for the occurrence of this spring and autumn passage. Monthly mean peak estimates for this species before this apportioning across bio-seasons is contained in Appendix B.
59. Numbers peaked during the autumn migration bio-season when an estimated 471 individuals were present within the East Anglia THREE site , with an estimated density of 1.55 birds/ km2 (Table 5.10).Monthly densities of gannets within the East Anglia THREE site and East Anglia THREE site with a 4 km buffer are presented in Appendix C. Mean peak abundance estimates for the winter bio-season indicate that gannets are of regional importance in the East Anglia THREE site only (Table 5.11).
