The following species accounts present the data recorded from the 24 months of aerial surveys conducted for East Anglia THREE. Monthly mean abundance estimates and densities are presented in tables, where appropriate, with each month colour- coded in accordance to the biological season they represent for the given species. The biological seasons are colour coded as follows:
Spring migration season = Green; Breeding season = Yellow; Autumn migration season = Orange; and Wintering season = Blue.
42. A number of tables contain a secondary colour coding within several ‘cross-over’ months. This is to account for months where both resident and migratory birds are present. For example, a month categorised as the breeding season (colour coded yellow), may include spring migratory birds so in this instance the text within the month is colour coded green to highlight a ‘cross-over’ month.
43.
Species recorded infrequently or in very low numbers are included within the main report, but monthly mean abundance estimates and densities and any other behavioural data are presented within Appendix A to H.
5.3.1 Shelduck 44. A single shelduck was recorded during the February 2013 survey within the 4km buffer area only. This bird was recorded flying at potential collision height (22 – 176m).
5.3.2 Scaup 45.
Six scaup were recorded during the January 2013 survey within the 4km buffer area only. All recorded birds were recorded sitting on the water.
5.3.3 Red-throated Diver
5.3.3.1 Abundance estimates 46.
The monthly abundance estimates provided below have been produced for the East Anglia THREE site (Table 5.2). Monthly abundance estimates for the East Anglia THREE site with a 4km buffer are presented in Appendix C.
