Ready for Online Alderney transmits more internet eGambling traffic than any other location on the globe and is in fact much larger than the combined activity of its three European offshore rivals

Alderney had just four licensees in 2004, but has since grown to have over 100 licensees and certificate holders, many holding multiple licences. It has more online regulatory agreements in place than any other jurisdiction in the world with many more coming to imminent fruition. Tis work will reap significant benefits as the industry seeks ways to pool player liquidity and introduce other features such as cross-border jackpots etc
But the main thrust of Alderney’s eGambling industry revolves around platform operators who provide services to either their own B2C businesses or to third parties. Susan O’Leary, Alderney’s Director of eCommerce, said: “During the past four years this activity has driven the growth in Alderney and we host most of the major operators and service providers from Europe and the UK as well as US operators looking to service their international clients.”
“Tere are five main reasons why Alderney is one of the largest jurisdictions in the world and why eGambling licensees benefit bymaking that all important move,” she added. “Firstly, we help operators access the most important markets, secondly we’ build strong inter- regulatory relationships that help operators. Tirdly, we have a transparent low tax system. Fourthly, we provide an unrestricted, resilient and secure technical environment and finally, we promise a great place to live and work.”
Alderney has always been a very cost-effective base for eGambling operations but Alderney has strengthened that further by introducing changes to its fees structure. “We have reduced the cost of Category 1 (B2C) and 2 licences (B2B) for start-up and new operators moving to the jurisdiction from £35,000 to £17,500 for the first 12 months. We recognised that our unique fee- based system, rather than a ‘tax and duty’ system, provides real benefit for established operators but could be improved for new businesses moving to Alderney,” said O’Leary.
