Scientific Games At ICE Totally Gaming 2016, G3 spoke to Scientific Games’ Marco Herrera about the penetration its Bally and WMS brands are having in the European market and what the future holds for both systems and casino slots

As such, our performance levels have dramatically improved, with many different Australian-style titles currently proving to be ‘a hit’ with European customers thanks to the games’ high volatility and true ‘gambling’ style of gameplay.”

While the fanfare at ICE trumpeted the debut of the new TwinStar cabinet at the show, European customers will get their hands on the new platform towards the second half of the year. TwinStar, now approved in more than 20 U.S. jurisdictions, is a premium for-sale cabinet utilizing the ArgOS operating system that supports slot content from Bally and WMS with a dual, vivid, 24-in/61-cm full HD displays and a 150 percent larger iDeck touchscreen button deck than the original groundbreaking iDeck introduced by Bally in 2011.

Heber was at the show fresh from the announcement of a new partnership to offer Betdigital’s new GRID Game Rapid Development System.

Mr. Jackson explained: “GRID really speeds up the whole process, accelerating game development by at least a few months. We will be using this game engine with our PC-based platforms such as the Pluto A400 system. It works with XML files providing graphics, animations, movies and sounds, resulting in high-quality games in small timeframes. It can support unlimited reel displays and reel-in- reels.”

Te XTouch button was being shown in London for the first time, having been launched at G2e Las Vegas.

“Players who are now used to the touch capability of smart phones are demanding new technology in gaming buttons,” Mr. Jackson explained. “Originating from buttons used on shower systems, these through- glass touch buttons can be used instead of the traditional amusements buttons of spin, nudge, hold. In glass fronted machines, the XTouch technology can be used instead of mechanical switches meaning there is no need to drill holes in the glass. Te touch technology lies behind a wipe- clean glass or perspex sheet and work in a similar manner to a smart phone screen, offering a new way for players to interact with a game machine.”
