Twentieth Century Fox World is going to be a world's first. The new theme park, whose launch date has been pushed back to late 2016 from early in the same year, will feature more than 25 rides from the studio genres such as action, animation, adventure and sci -fi. Genting Malaysia Bhd President and COO, Datuk Seri Lee Choong Yan, said movies that were household names were among the intellectual property rights given to Genting by 20th Century Fox for the theme park.

of course its home turf, but the addition of a world class theme park may help it attract the Korean and Japanese tourists it has lacked in the past, he added.

To diversify its clientele and bring in more international tourists, Resorts World Genting has recently appointed Paul Baker as deputy COO.

Mr. Baker is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and Harvard Business School. He worked

with Caesars Entertainment for more than 10 years and Wynn Macau for nine months before coming over to Malaysia. Also in the launch pipeline next year is Sky Avenue, which connects the Arena of Stars performance hall, First World Hotel, Sky Plaza, a new performance hall and a new cable car station.

Construction of Sky Avenue has commenced at the part closest to First World Hotel, reaching the third floor now. Employees said the internal target is to open it by the end

of 2015. Sky Avenue spans over 450,000 square feet, offering an array of branded retail stores, al fresco dining on an open deck, as well as a new cinema with more than 10 screens.

Resorts World Genting currently has two mini screens showing selected movies, which falls far short of the cinematic experience offered by rivals such as Galaxy Entertainment’s Galaxy Macau, which has nine screens and shows 3D titles.
