LATVIA – OLYMPIC ACQUIRES GARKALNS LOCATIONS The Latvian subsidiary of Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG) has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent shareholding in Latvian casino operator SIA Garkalns and its subsidiary SIA Post-Nevada.


According to Madis Jääger, CEO of OEG: “We are in the mid- dle of a year of intense expansion – in addition to the acquisi- tion in Latvia we are working on a large project to enter the market in Malta and at the same time we are building our flagship casino and the first Hilton in the Baltics.”


The two companies to be acquired, Garkalns and its sub- sidiary Post-Nevada, have 20 slot casinos in Latvia, 10 of which are located in the country’s capital city Riga and 10 in regional cities, and have a total of 432 slots. In 2014, the companies had revenue of more than €6m, which accounted for 4 per cent of the Latvian market, and the companies employed 245 people. The nominal value of the share capital of SIA Garkalns is €1,991,553. The parties agreed not to dis- close the price of the transaction.


“We will bring the acquired casinos into compliance with the standards of Olympic Casino and with that significantly increase their success,”Mr. Jääger said, reminding that close to two years ago OEG already acquired one much smaller competitor in Latvia and that had only positive effect to the company’s results. On the completion of the transaction OEG will own 57 casinos in Latvia. The casinos will be brought into compliance with the standards of OEG within one year, after which they will be rebranded as Olympic Casino.

The Omar Khayyam casino at the Marriott Hotel in Cairo was one of the first casinos in the world to install Cammegh’s Lucky Symbols, a new and exciting side-bet for roulette. The system was introduced to the casino by John Grannell of Clearwater Casino Consultancy Ltd, and both he and casino director Lamberto Graglia have been extremely pleased with how it performed, to the degree the casino in June installed two more tables with Lucky Symbols: Pharaoh’s Riches.

Playtech wins Norsk Tipping interactive games contract


NORWAY Playtech has won a coveted contract to supply Norway’s state-owned gaming operator with locally adapted content across more than 4,300 interac- tive gaming terminals.


Playtech was one of eight com- peting suppliers during the pro- curement process, and one of three to win the contract. In partnership with Norsk Tipping, Playtech will further develop its interactive terminal games offering and this month will begin delivery of a suite of interactive retail gaming con- tent designed specifically for the Norwegian Belago (bingo halls) and Multix (retail) envi- ronments.


The company, under Playtech subsidiary Videobet Interactive Sweden, is one of three suppli- ers selected to provide new content for all Norsk Tipping interactive gaming terminals. The duration is for an initial two-year period that includes an option for two further one year extensions.


The deal is in addition to Playtech’s current contract to provide Norsk Tipping with more than 4,300 gaming termi- nals as well as the innovative TruServ platform, the engine that powers the Norwegian retail and bingo hall markets.
