Case Study Blue Monday is the year’s saddest day
If you wake up feeling grumpier than usual on the third Monday in January you’re probably not alone, as experts reckon this day is one of the gloomiest days of the year. Researchers say that on this day people are more unhappy than at any other time in the year. Apparently it’s all to do with the grey and depressing weather, breaking our New Year’s resolutions and not having much cash to splash in the shops! It has become known as Blue Monday.
Questions 1. Do you think that the article is from a scientific journal or not? Justify your answer. 2. What evidence, if any, does the article provide for the existence of ‘Blue Monday’? 3. Outline a fair scientific investigation to examine if weather has an effect on mood.
